Goodbye Warsaw, Hello Poznan!!

When you read this blog, I, for some unknown reason put the pictures in from last to first so remember that "the first shall be last and the last shall be first." When we arrived in Poznan and had gotten our stuff (And there was a lot after a year)put into the apartment, we went to the Poznan Branch which is located not far from the picture you see below. We grabbed a bite to eat and watched the lights come on in Rynek square.

Above is the street right next to the Branch.

This is the Chapel and these are two fine Elders, Elder Plum at the keyboard and Elder Buckner at the computer. He is trying to get the computer set up so the members can watch General Conference. Elder buckner is the Branch president until Sunday when Ross will be sustained as the new Branch president.

Elder Plum at the podium.

This is the only other room used for Relief Society and class room for anything else.

I'm standing outside at the entrance to the Branch. We are right down in Old Town where there is lot's of action, not necessarily Church kind.

This is the hallway leading to 2 flights of stairs, windy, old stairs, up to the Branch. If anyone can't navigate 2 flights then they probably won't make it to church.

These are the stairs leading up to the Branch.

Another shot of the hallway.

Brother Krzystof Jarosz is aan amazing man and one of the nicest people you could meet. He is an independent contractor for the Church and is responsible for finding and maintaining apartments and cars for Missionaries and senior couple missionaries. the only Elders that have cars are the assistants to the President and the Office elders and the senior couples. He found our apartment, helped us load up all our stuff and loaded his car as well as ours and drove down too to help on this end. What a guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His oldest ddaughter is at BYU.

This is the view from our patio. We are on the 3rd floor.

This is the view from the other side. By the way the parking garage that you see behind the apartment is a great mall with everything. Then behind the mall is a lake with a biking/walking/running trail all the way around. I love that!!!!!

The living area. The apartment looks bigger than it really is. It's really small but it is fine for us.

The kitchen which is in the living area. You will notice the big micro-wave. when we got here and the Landlord was showing us around, we noticed there was no oven. Being as I feel a great need to bake every so often, I said I couldn't take the apartment with no oven. So the landlord took us to Media Mart and bought a micro-wave/ convection oven. I baked brownies so I know it can bake. You have to use nothing bigger than a 10 inch pan. Notice the small refrigerator, nothing bigger than a container of ice cream and a small bag of ice. Noone really uses ice in their drinks so no ice cube trays.

This is the front of the apartment. We get a parking space underneath in November, so meanwhile we just have to find a parking spot. It's a college area and many students so sometimes you park a block or so away and as you are always heftings bags of stuff, you get a pretty good workout.

The leaves are beginning to turn color so it was a really nice drive as we began our trip to Poznan.

We had our last YSA FHE and Institute at JAckie and Mark Pickett's home. Jackie and Mark are great people and we will miss them. I will especially miss Jackie. We taught Institute together and had developed a good friendship which I value.

I would say that the hardest part of moving to Poznan is leaving these wonderful YSAs. They are, each one of them, dear to our hearts and we will miss them tremendously.

Elder Fritzsch and Elder Davis came over and taught us a FHE lesson.

The first order of bussiness was, of course, food and we had a delicious meal. Hawaiian Haystacks, which they had never had before. There was lots of food to go around. By the way, Aleks, with the glasses and red hair is preparing for a mission and hopes to go after the first of thr year.

Can you tell, we are almost packed up to begin our adventure in Poznan.
